Interview with Baron Baptiste“I believe you have a special programme for athletes, can you say a little about this? BB: My experience in training athletes has included quite a few well-known sports figures. I've worked with Tom Brady of the New England Patriots and former Boston Bruins great, Cam Neely. I was also Peak Performance Coach for
a number of years with the Philadelphia Eagles. I've been a Yoga teacher and coach for just about 30 years, working with both the pros and amateur athletes in sports of all kinds. That's the beauty of the style of Yoga I teach. It offers just as much to extreme athletes as it does to someone who is just easing into a fitness programme. There is a challenge, or a growing edge, for every student. I've been drawn to work with athletes over the years because I've seen a real
need for what Yoga can offer to the world of sports and fitness. Yoga is incredibly versatile as a means to healthy, practical and functional fitness. For world-class athletes who take their bodies to extremes day after day, Yoga is a way to reset the body. It speeds healing by bringing increased circulation to over-stressed muscles and joints, and allows retention of above average range of motion. Athletes educate themselves through Yoga on how to
use just the muscles needed for each task, all the while learning to eliminate unnecessary movements, improving accuracy and efficiency. My programme also creates a balance of real life strength and useable flexibility that leads to greater power, and peak performance as well as longevity for athletes due to decreased chance of injury. I believe you also run a radio phone in. Can you say a little about this? BB: I've really enjoyed being a part of the radio show, ‘Extreme Results Radio‘, with my co-host David Ruben. We've had some fantastic on-air conversations that go beyond just the physical benefits of Yoga. And really, the physical is just the beginning.
There are so many other factors that contribute to improved performance, to fantastic results, to living powerfully NOW, instead of dreaming of the future, which is always out of reach. I'm passionate about helping people experience power, peace of mind, and authenticity in every area and aspect of their lives - in my ‘Journey Into Power’ (empowerment) boot-camps and teacher trainings, in
my articles, books and CDS, and in my ‘on-air‘ conversations with David. It's been a very positive experience for me and a great way to reach out to others who are curious about how they can implement instant and powerful change in their own lives...” The conversation with Baron Baptiste continues to explore his views of how Yoga is changing and plans for the future. |
