Colour therapy“The vibrational energies of colour contained in sunlight are essential for our health - indeed, no life form could survive without the light and warmth of the sun. In the summer, when we tend to spend more time outdoors, most of us feel happier and healthier.
One condition resulting from light deprivation is Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). This begins in Autumn, when days become shorter and our exposure to sunlight is diminished, and disappears in spring when the days lengthen again. The symptoms of SAD are lethargy, depression and a craving for carbohydrates. Sunlight also helps build strong, healthy bones. When we spend time outdoors, we absorb through our eyes the middle waveband of ultraviolet
light, which enables the body to produce vitamin D, essential for the metabolisation of calcium. Researchers have shown that ultraviolet light cannot pass through glass, so wearing spectacles, sunglasses (particularly of the ‘wraparound’ variety) or contact lenses inhibits its absorption...”Colour therapy continues to outline the ways in which colour (and light) has been used to diagnose and treat people through the ages up to the present
