Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS)

ankyl-01“Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a widespread condition which affects about 1 in 200 men and 1 in 500 women in the UK. Its onset can be very rapid and occur very early, typically appearing in young men around the age of 24. Because it is a condition which is not widely known, it can often remain undiagnosed for as much as 8 to 10 years, during which time a lot of damage may have been done and remedial steps which might have helped delayed. There has been increased publicity of late, helped by the excellent National Ankylosis Spondylitis Society (NASS) which has produced a wealth of information in the form of books, tapes, DVDs and a website, as well as co-ordinating self help groups around the country.(CLICK HERE) for details which may help you spot symptoms early. Once diagnosed a regular regime of exercise and stretching is a must and Yoga can fit that need perfectly!...
