Self massage“The pleasure of touch is a primal need. So little wonder that massage is one of the most profound ways of nurturing, soothing and comforting a human being. The sequences (shown in this article) offer a simple yet powerful way to relieve the mild aches, strains and muscle tension that can build up in our busy modern lives.

If you’re with a travelling companion or colleague, you can take turns to give each other this marvellous stress-relieving massage. Seat the recipient on a comfortable chair with the chair back to the side, so that you can access the whole of the back easily. Get them to sit with their feet hip width apart, backs of the thighs firmly on the seat, and hands relaxed, palms downwards and resting on their thighs...

Self massage technique
The following simple and effective squeeze and release movement is ideal as a self massage technique when you are on the move. Use it to ease taut muscles and boost the flow of blood and lymph. It is prefect for the arms and releases tension that builds up after a tiring day. Hold your left wrist with your right hand and squeeze and release working up your inner arm. Now repeat on your outer arm. Repeat the hand and arm sequence with your left hand working your right wrist and arm. Use a slow, rhythmic movement and keep your hands relaxed and supple.healing-massage step 12 To access deeper areas of tension, use a kneading action to really work the muscle. Cup your hand over the muscle and roll it between your fingers and the heel of the hand...”
