Veggie for life

vege-for-life“No serious health-based organisation would suggest that steak, bacon and ice-cream are essntial components of a healthy diet or that sausages and burgers can protect against disease. However, an increasing bodyt of research shows that lowering the amount of animal-based foods in your diet and increasing your intake of fruits, vegetables and wholegrains can protect a wide range of illnesses and diseases. The Vegetarian & Vegan Foundation (VVF), a science-based charity that monitors research linking diet to health, says the evidence is compelling: a vegetarian diet is the healthiest diet of all.
Many people consider the UK to be one of the healthiest countries in the world. However, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has devised a new ranking system that reveals some surprising results. The WHO estimates the number of years that a person can expect to live in full health. This gives a truer picture of the health of a country than simply studying death rates. The WHO system ranks Japan first, Australia second and France third. The UK takes fourteenth position. We may be living longer but only thanks to theadvances in medical treatment and drug therapies - we are not growing old gracefully!..”
